The Lord said to Moses, "Say to
Aaron and his sons, 'Thus you will bless the Israelites:' The Lord bless you
and keep you; May the Lord make his face shine upon you and grant you grace
[gentleness, mercy, favor to others]; the Lord return to you [in approbation]
his countenance [face] and give you peace [peace of heart and life
continually]. " (Numbers 6: 22-26)
Do you know what the countenance of God is?
It is His face, His appearance. When any man or woman of God tells us,
"May the Lord make his face shine upon you and grant you grace; the Lord
turn your face unto you and give you peace "(Numbers 6: 25,26), what he or
she is saying is," Let people see the glory of God shining upon you and
through you. "
Can I encourage you to do something? When you
leave the house today for a new day, ask the Lord to make your face shine upon
you. Ask Him to turn His face towards you and give you peace. Ask Him to make
His glory shine upon you, as He did with Moses. Then let your light shine
before men, that they may see and glorify their Father who is in heaven (see
Matthew 5:16).
Letting your light shine can be something as
simple as putting a smile on your face. This is the way to "turn the
switch" on God's glory. The glory of God is in you, but if you never
express it, if it never comes out, people will not be blessed.
