"I have put all my hope in the Lord; he
bowed down to me and heard my cry for help. He brought me out of a pit of
destruction, out of a mire of mud; he set my feet upon a rock, and set me in a
safe place. " Psalm 40: 1,2
The psalmist went through painful experiences:
he fell into a "dangerous pit" into a "mud pit." It was
because of the Lord's deliverance that David wrote: "I waited patiently
for the help of God the Lord. He listened to me and heard my cry for help
"(Psalm 40: 1).
The psalmist describes the attentive manner
in which the Lord receives our prayers: "He hearkened unto me and heard my
cry for help." In other words, when we pray in faith the Lord analyzes the
reality and depth of our soul and touches directly on those points that really
need help.
Unfortunately, we do not always perceive the
Lord's work, solving our needs. Unfortunately, we often "wait" with
impatience. And we even come to believe that our prayers did not come to Him.
The Lord "bowed down to me and heard my cry." When we pray with this
simplicity of trust, we can feel the love with which God hears us and responds
to us.
