"These are the generations of
Noah. He was a just and perfect man in his generations, and walked with
God." - Genesis 6: 9
Nobody's perfect, is not it? Perfect there is
only one: God. Do you agree? So why does the verse of today claim that Noah was
perfect?
For many years I heard that man could have
relative perfection - God would have absolute perfection. But I had difficulty
accepting this concept of relative perfection until I heard an illustration
that helped me understand that we can have relative perfection, perfection with
limitations.
One man was in the maternity waiting room
while his wife was giving birth. After some time the doctor called his father
and said: Congratulations, your son was born without problems. It's a perfect
child! He was allowed to come in and see the child. When the father saw his son
he realized that the child was bald, toothless, illiterate, and could barely
stand. How could a doctor who studied so much say that she was a perfect child?
Yes. She was perfect within her developmental stage.
In the same way Christians can have
innumerable limitations, but if they walk with God they will be perfect in the
one who strengthens them.
My invitation is that today you walk with God
just as Noah did, in this way you can be just and perfect.
Prayer: Our Father in heaven. May his name be
glorified. Thank you for being willing to walk with us, weak sinners. We are
limited, but we are sure that your presence with us makes us perfect. Do not
abandon us on this day. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
