"Trust in the Lord with
all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Acknowledge him in all your ways, and
he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5, 6
Trust in the Lord, take his will and
give up our self-confidence. This teaching urges us to review our attitudes,
those that make us rely on our own ability to perform, on our intelligence and
the knowledge we acquire. There is an alert from the Father that these
attitudes can completely separate us from Him. As long as we trust in our own
abilities and in what we can accomplish, we will unfortunately not be able to
live the life that Jesus wants us to live.
Jesus taught us that "if we want
to follow Him, we will have to deny ourselves and take up our cross." This
will not be possible if we continue to live according to our own confidence and
knowledge. We will never seek God, as long as we are self-reliant,
self-reliant, and self-satisfied with our own existence. As long as we do not
need the grace and power of God, we can not deny ourselves and take up our
cross to follow Jesus. And worse, we will not repent of our sins, for we will
always find self-justification for them, we will not seek the face of God to
confess them, and ultimately, as a consequence, we will not be saved from them.
The blood of Christ covers the sins of the one who confesses them repentant. If
our self-confidence does not allow us to take this step to reach God, we will
be considered enemies of the cross of Christ, because we will be trying to usurp
his glory, something that he does not share with anyone. The apostle Paul gives
a testimony that his own life had no value, despite all the predicates he had,
but that in the knowledge of Christ, they meant absolutely nothing. In the same
way, it will not be our intelligence, but our faith; it will not be our
self-confidence, but our confidence in the Lord that will show us the way we
should go. If we consider God to be the source and source of all things, we
must learn from Him the way in which we should walk, the truth that will make
us wise in their eyes and the life by which we will be saved.
