"Thanks be to the great love of the
Lord, that we are not consumed, for his mercies are inexhaustible: they are
renewed every morning: great is thy faithfulness" (Lamentations 3: 22-23).
Have you had a bad time? For know that you
are not the first person to go through a difficult situation, nor will it be
the last. Once, things were so bad in Israel that Jeremiah called one of the
Bible books he wrote about "Lamentations." In his reports, Jeremiah
described God's people as a "widow" and a "slave," and
said, "He weeps bitterly at night, tears roll down his face. they have
betrayed her: they have become their enemies "(Lamentations 1: 2).
And as the Book of Lamentations goes from
verse to verse, things continue to go from bad to worse, for the people of God
were reaping the fruits of the bad seeds they had planted in the past. Then,
suddenly, when things could not get any worse, Jeremiah wrote, "Thanks be
to the great love of the Lord, we are not consumed, for his mercies are
inexhaustible: they renew themselves every morning: great is thy
faithfulness."
Is not that wonderful? In a world where only
the strongest survive, being able to count on God's love, faithfulness and
compassion every day is something spectacular. The dictionary defines
compassion as "a pious feeling for the tragedy of the other, accompanied
by the desire to diminish their pain, spiritual participation in the
unhappiness of others that leads to the voluntary impulse of tenderness with
the sufferer."
Then, every day when you wake up, glorify God
in the following way: "Lord, thank you for His mercies that are renewed
every morning. I know that despite my failures, the Lord pities me and wants to
free me more and more of sin and pain. "
