I have considered all the works that are done
under the sun, and behold, all is vanity, and to run after the wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14
Have you ever been angry with yourself after
realizing that you spent a long time doing an action that did not make sense? I
have! I remember as a child from a broken jar that was stuck in the trash.
Hidden, I decided to paste. I started by joining the larger pieces and finished
with the smaller pieces. To my surprise, he was missing a few pieces. But
still, I let it dry. After a few hours I went to check the result of my
dedication: A Frankenstein jug, which did not stop the water. The only thing I
noticed was that it was for people to make fun of me. Result: I immediately
threw it in the trash.
Solomon, after a lifetime of observations,
has found that the great majority of human actions are meaningless, are carried
out for vain reasons, most often driven by vanity. It's like he says: an
incessant chase after the wind.
Today, when I woke up, I awoke with this
verse in my mind and my prayer was that God would help me to see life with his
eyes and not lose my precious time with vanity and running after the wind.
Have you run after the wind? It sounds crazy,
does not it? But this is how God sees us when we dedicate our lives to pursuing
dreams, desires and accomplishments that do not lead us to a life closer to
heaven. May the Father on this day give us the wisdom necessary to understand
the real meaning of life.
"Draw nigh unto God, and he shall draw
nigh unto you ..." James 4: 8
