"Therefore, do not give up the
trust you have; she will be richly rewarded "(Hebrews 10:35).
Some of the hardest things we face are
offensive words about us. Words of defeat, of shame, of guilt: "You'll
never be good enough"; "Your marriage is over"; "You'll
never get out of this debt," "You'll never be cured." These
words come to destroy hope and throw your trust in the crap. But you do not
have to let them take root in your heart and harm you, for God promises:
"No weapon forged against you shall prevail, and you shall refute every
tongue that accuses you. This is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord,
and this is the defense that I make of their name "(Isaiah 54:17).
Most of the attacks we face today begin with
these provocations from the enemy. It is as if he were saying, "You have
faith because God has delivered you in the past, but do not trust so much that
He will do the same in the future." You believe that God is able to heal,
but the medical diagnosis says "it's cancer." And, suddenly, Satan
reminds you that it's the same disease that killed a relative of yours. Maybe
you've been fired from your job. You know that God is your provider, but the
devil reminds you that a friend of yours went bankrupt after going through a
similar situation. So you think, "Why would I be any different?"
When these attacks come against you, remember
what the apostle Paul said: "Therefore, do not give up the trust you have;
she will be richly rewarded. " The Bible says that we should not be
"anxious for anything.... And the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus
"(Philippians 4: 6,7). When you bring the offenses and threats to God,
trusting in Him and not in your own understanding, He gives you peace that
guards your heart and your mind, even in the midst of afflictions.
