as fools, but as wise." (Ephesians 5:15)
Emotions and feelings are components of the
soul given to us by God. A life without feelings would be extremely dry and
boring ... But if we let our feelings control us, they can become dangerous and
indeed make us miserable. All that God gives us for our joy, satan tries to use
against us. God has given us feelings so that we may be a blessing to others
and to the Kingdom. Satan, however, tries to use them to cause us torment. He
wants us to make all of our feelings-based decisions so that we allow our
feelings to govern us.
Feelings become dangerous and tormenting when
we do not understand that we have the choice to let them govern us or not. How
often do we feel that someone has hurt our feelings? We can choose whether
we're going to get hurt or not.
Walking according to our emotions is doing
everything we want right now, which makes us feel good right now. Our future is
being affected by the decisions we make today.
Make sure your emotions serve you - do not
spend your life serving them. Make a decision today to govern your emotions
instead of allowing them to govern you.
