Revealing himself through the prophet Isaiah,
"The Lord God says - My thoughts are not like your thoughts and I do not
act like you" (Isaiah 55: 8).
Why did the Lord decide to make such a
statement?
Because the natural characteristic of
religious systems invented by humans is to create their gods in the image and
likeness of people. But human beings, limited by their vanity, have never been
able to live the revolutionary power of "God is love," revealed in
John's letter (1 John 4:16).
The "grace of God" is the power of
His love for us, able to restore the deformations we suffer, because of sin. To
preach Christ is to live His love, which we should feel for others. The grace
of Christ is the spiritual force that will allow us to live in the "new
heaven and new earth" (Revelation 21: 1-5). Until then, however, we must
live as missionaries of the grace of God, so that "men may see the good
things that you do and praise your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).
