"And the LORD made the LORD to rain
sulfur and fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah. And he overthrew those cities, and all
the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which was born in
the land. And Lot's wife looked behind her and became a statue of salt.
"Genesis 19: 24-26
When Abraham and his nephew Lot decided to
separate, Lot chose to go to the meadow of the Jordan, the place that seemed
most advantageous to take his family and his flock. But there was a problem: it
was very close to Sodom, a city where men were evil and great sinners.
At one point, because of the wickedness of
these people, God sends two angels to warn Lot to leave quickly where he lived
with his wife and two daughters without looking back, for he would destroy
Sodom and Gomorrah.
Lot obeys, but his wife does not resist and
looks back. At the same time, it is transformed into a statue of salt. Why did
this happen to her?
God has rescued us from a life of sin,
misery, and death. It is a common mistake to see people, after becoming
accustomed to the gospel, forget all that has been done by them, looking back
to the past with a certain nostalgia: "Ah, at that time my life was so
restless ... I had so many friends around ... "and so on.
We have to be careful not to feed thoughts
like these. The Christian life is not monotonous. It is joy, peace,
tranquility, salvation, liberation, renewal! If you do not live like this, seek
to remember where you left thoughts contrary to this truth to dominate you and
turn to the Truth.
Have a grateful heart to the Lord and live a
dynamic life with God, full of wonderful experiences unequaled with Him!
