"For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of
God. " Ephesians 2: 8
We are sinners. We
live in a world of sin, of disobedience to the will of God. If we are judged by
the principles of human justice, our destiny is condemnation. Fortunately, when
divine justice judges us, it does so by following the criteria of His loving grace.
And this grace, which has been revealed to us by the mystery of Christ Jesus,
only does not work in the life of those who reject it.
Writing to the
Ephesians, Paul reveals to us the breadth and power of divine grace. "For
by grace you have been saved through faith: and that not of yourselves - it is
the gift of God" (Ephesians 2: 8).
The dynamic content
of divine grace is His love - because "God is love" (1 John 4: 7,8).
Because God is love, He is not vengeful. Because God is not vengeful, the power
of His grace sets us free from all our sins and our guilt. Saved by Christ, our
mission is to announce to the world the gracious love of God that we receive
when we accept the lordship of Christ.
