"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise; give thanks to him and bless his name.
For the Lord is good and his loyal love is eternal;
his faithfulness continues throughout all generations. " Psalm 100: 4,5
All of Psalm 100 is a praise to the Lord God,
and verse 5 closes it with a golden key. The first four verses speak about
actions: to acclaim, to serve, to present, to recognize, to enter, to give, and
to praise. However, as we arrive in the last verse we find one because of the
actions previously spoken. First of all, this verse reminds us of something
that, whatever the adversities of life, we can never forget: the Lord is good!
But in this psalm we find not only this emphasis on the goodness of our God, we
also find praise to his love and faithfulness.
Verse 5 begins with a "therefore."
That is, an explanation for the actions previously said. We should praise the
Lord, serve with joy, and stand before Him with songs, for He is good. This is
the main reason why we should worship Him. Because He is good. But we do not
have only this reason to worship Him. We should worship the Lord equally
because His love endures forever, and his faithfulness, for all generations.
Let us joyfully celebrate the Lord, let us
serve Him with joy, and let us stand before Him with songs on our lips. For the
Lord our God is good, and his love and faithfulness will never end. Amen!
