It is very difficult to deal with some issues
of life. One of them is rejection. Living rejection in the family context can
be damaging for a lifetime. We can be rejected in the family, at work and even
among friends. And when we live our lives in a fair and just way, fearing God,
avoiding evil, and yet people treat us with indifference? How to understand
this?
The only answer I have is what a worse thing
the Lord Jesus has gone through. He was rejected, mistreated, led to the cross
and dead (Isaiah 53: 3-5). All because he simply loved us and desired in his
heart to redeem us from sin, giving us salvation (John 3:16). That was the
treatment they gave to the One who the only thing they did was love us. The
simple fact
of one's existence can provoke a profound
aversion to others. Of course much is produced by ourselves. If we are undesirable
people and practice wickedness all the time, we will of course be rejected
(Galatians 6: 7).
The good news is that God loves us and never
rejects us. Even if people hurt us with their words and attitudes, God never
acts like that with us. He is the God who restores our soul. He is the God who
heals the wounds of our heart. He is the God who embraces us, welcomes us and
whispers in our ears: "Do not worry, it will be alright, I am here!"
One lesson I learn about rejection is that I
can do differently. Instead of reproducing the rejection suffered, I can
embrace, welcome and love. I can and should follow the example of Jesus. There
are already many people despising others, we do not need to be part of this
sum. God invites us to make a difference. He calls us to love as He loved, to
be an instrument of healing in people's lives (John 13:34). While we are
instruments of healing over the lives of those around us, being used by God as
a channel of restoration, the Father with all love will heal the wounds of our
heart!
Do not waste your precious time getting worn
down with rejections suffered, invest your life in loving, embracing, and
welcoming people. For this is what our Father is doing and doing all the time!
