But as it is written, 'No eye has seen, no
ear has heard, no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love
him' "(1 Corinthians 2: 9)
There is a saying that the same hammer that
shatters the glass, forges the steel. God has His purpose in the storms of our
lives. God is in control - and He has a plan.
God knows all things of the past, the present
and the future. And God - and He alone - is the only one qualified to know when
to allow evil and suffering and when not to allow it. When He allows, or even
brings something into your life, He has a plan with it.
We like to follow the Lord when things are
happening the way we would have them happen. But when we are in a difficult
situation, we step on the brake. We do not want to go through difficult situations.
That's why I like Psalm 23, one of the great
passages of Scripture: "The Lord is my shepherd; I will not need anything
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, and leadeth me into quiet waters
"(Psalm 23: 1,2). Then David continues and says, "Even when I walk
through a valley of darkness and death, I will fear no danger, for you are with
me; your rod and your staff protect me "(Psalm 23: 4)
We like green pastures and calm waters. But
we are not excited about the valleys especially when the shadow of death is
written upon them. But God is with us right now. This is what it means to
follow the Lord.
Life on earth for those who believe is as
difficult as it can be. If you are a Christian, you have to know that the worst
times in your life will be as bad as your ability to endure. But not more than
that. This is the hope we have.
And through the difficult times in our lives,
God can accomplish great things.
