The promise, spoken through Isaiah, is
addressed to "all Israel of God" - "When you walk through the
fire, it will not burn ..." (Isaiah 43: 2).
There are two realities revealed in the
Lord's promise. The first states that we will walk through the fire. This
statement is not pleasant. She is, however, realistic. And honest. Centuries
later Jesus repeated it: "In the world you will have tribulations."
John 16:33. Therefore, the text does not say "if there will be fire,"
the specific statement "when." That is, "every possible time you
walk through the fire," the Lord's delivering power will be protecting
you. And me.
At this point, we have to face the second
reality of the promise: "you will not burn." Believing this is not
easy. Because we are surrounded by intense fire. Because, involved in the fear
that temperature instills in us, we can not see any deliverance. Our experience
teaches us that deliverance from the Lord fortunately does not depend on our
courage. Deliverance is the result of the mighty love of the Lord. To have the
benefit of this powerful love depends on our faith. Escudados in this faith in
the divine love we do not stop to walk, even "through the fire". You
can walk: you will not burn.
