When Jesus said,
"I leave you peace ..." (John 14:27), He was speaking of a special
kind of peace, not of worldly peace. This special peace of which Jesus was
speaking is that which operates at all times and in all situations.
The believer who is
experiencing God's peace through his relationship with Jesus can have peace
even in the midst of the storms of life.
1 Peter 3:11 says
that we should seek peace, pursue it and strive to achieve it. The word seek
means "to run after, to strive ... to desire, to inquire, to require, or
to demand." It means requiring something as a vital necessity, yearning or
pursuing something.
This verse mentions
three areas in which we should seek peace: (1) with God, (2) with men, and (3)
with ourselves.
Learn to love peace
and sincerely desire it. Seek peace, for without it you will not be able to
enjoy the life and blessings of God. The Lord said that if you sought Him with
all your heart, you would find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). I believe that if you
diligently seek peace with all your heart, you will find what you are looking
for.
Speak thus: "I
have peace exceeding all understanding. I have peace working in the midst of
the storm. "
