"My brethren,
having joy to pass through various trials, knowing that the testing of your
faith, once confirmed, produces perseverance" James 1: 2,3
Trials are adverse
circumstances that impose upon us and can produce suffering and disorientation.
One should not confuse trials with temptations. Trials can become temptations
when we give the enemy the opportunity to act when in them. Although they often
involve situations of suffering, the way we deal with trials is different from
how we deal with temptations. Trials can be a source of great joy to the
believer. Temptation is not intended to induce us to error or our evil. The
object of the ordeal is to establish the will of God in our life and to purge
the evil that is still present in the depths of our heart. What is the cause of
joy and of your own trial? We rejoice in trials, for their purpose is to
produce perseverance in our life of faith. Interesting is that it is our faith
that is proven and not ourselves in itself. This happens in view of our living
by faith. Our life comes down to faith in God for Christ! The goal of the life
of faith in God is to reach persevering life in God. Faith that perseveres, it
is perseverance!
