"The fear of the Lord prolongs life,
but the life of the wicked is shortened" (Proverbs 10:27).
Many think that to fear the Lord is to fear
Him. However, to fear is to turn away from sin and evil and to walk in the path
of holiness. To fear God is to seek to have the mind renewed by His Word and to
practice what Jesus taught. If I fear the Creator, I boldly approach Him,
desiring to be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit in order to have a
pure heart, full of love, hope, mercy and compassion. In the New Covenant
[established through Jesus], the Spirit comes to dwell in us and becomes our
guide. We can consult him on all decisions, creating an intimate relationship
to make sure that everything we do will be within the dreams He has for me. So
my steps will be blessed and I will walk in safety.
The wicked do not fear God and, unfortunately,
live life by following their own wills. Mind, idolatrous, adulterous,
intoxicated, smokes excessively and ends up denigrating himself. He does not
take care of his family and does not help his neighbor. These will fall into
the innumerable snares that the Devil prepares to not allow his heart to be
placed in the hands of the heavenly Father, and they will walk in the misery of
an empty life [without the Savior]. If you find yourself in this situation,
call for Jesus, He will hear your prayer, however simple it may be. Make Him
your refuge and your greatest love.
