"The Lord is longsuffering, and full of
mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, which the guilty does not hold
innocent, and visiteth the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the
third and fourth generation." Numbers 14:18
How often do we get impatient with something or
someone letting that feeling take away our peace and leading us to sin with
attitudes, words.
The revolt appears and we want to give up or
challenge by channeling all this negative energy into our lives. The
consequences are not always the best: revolt and impatience can be great
ingredients for isolation, ingratitude, fights etc. The people of God often
rebelled against God because he did not understand and did not wait for God's
will. In Numbers 14: 01-25 we can see clearly the revolt that the people had
and the consequences that this revolt could have caused because God was not at
all pleased with the ingratitude of the Jews: "How long will this people
reject me?" Numbers 14:11. But Moses intercedes for the people asking for God's
mercy and forgiveness for the Jews. However, there were consequences, as in
everything we do: those who rejected God did not enter the promised land. It is
important to reflect that everything we do will have consequences, and it is up
to us to choose our actions so that the consequences are not negative but
positive, and according to the will of God. "I, the Lord, have patience
and much compassion; I forgive wickedness and sin, but I do not treat the
guilty as innocent. "Numbers 14:18.
