"The
dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word" Psalm 119: 147.
It is amazing
how some situations have the power to take away our peace and our sleep at
night. And the result comes in the morning: fatigue, headaches, moodiness etc.
So when you are having trouble sleeping, do as the psalmist and seek God
through His Word and prayer:
"I cried
with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord, and keep thy statutes Thee I called upon
thee. Save me, and keep thy testimonies.
The dawning of
the morning, and cried; I hoped in thy word.
Mine eyes
prevent the night watches, to meditate in thy word.
Hear my voice,
according to thy lovingkindness; quicken me, O Lord, according to thy judgment.
the approach that are given to ill-treatment; are far from thy law. You are
near, O LORD, and all thy commandments are truth. " Psalms 119: 145-151
If you have
lived anxious and worried, you know how bad it is staring at the ceiling when
you should be sleeping. The psalmist also went through it and said, "I'm
awake in the night watches, to meditate on your promises." He was facing
major problems, but his refuge in sleepless nights was the Word of God. The
enemies were chasing him and that certainly hindered his sleep, but instead of
focusing on the problems, he meditated on the promises of the Lord.
So when worries
come wake you up at night, remember that "the word of God is living and
active" (Hebrews 4:12). It will help you remember what God has done in
your life and what He can do. Choose a passage from the Bible and meditate on
it. Then pray and remember that your problems are never greater than the Almighty
God. He is in control of everything and defend your cause if you trust Him!
