"And
there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and seeing him,
he fell at his feet, and besought him much, saying: My daughter is dying; I
pray thee, come and lay thy hands, to heal and live. " Mark 5: 22-23
Jairus was a
religious man of great prestige and head of the synagogue. His prestige and
leadership in the synagogue could not do anything at all for his daughter at
the time the most painful blow.
Jairo had to go through a situation that human
being no waiting. Children usually bury their fathers, but Jairo was against
the way, having to see his dead daughter. Only he did not passively accept the
declaration of death of his daughter. Go Jesus humbles himself before the Lord,
kneels and asks the Master to go with him to his house to heal his daughter.
They were on the
way, when he gets the news that his daughter was already dead. Jesus said,
"Jairus, not afraid, only believe" Mark 5:36
We need not be
afraid of anything when Jesus walks with us. He was Jairus and expressed his
power, he raised his daughter, because always the last word of Him and not of
death. Jesus overcame death. He is risen! He is alive! Now we can shout with
all the strength of our soul, "Where, O death is your victory?" Only
Jesus has all power to give life, because He is the resurrection and the life. Hallelujah!
