through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

Our good behavior and our good
works can never give us salvation, for the Bible says that we are all sinners
and that one sin is enough to condemn us "For all have sinned" Romans
3:23
"We are as unclean - all of
us All our righteous acts are like filthy rags shrivel up like a leaf, and like
the wind our iniquities take us away!" (Isa. 64: 6)
What will we do then? How can we
be free of hell? Only by recognizing our sinfulness and putting our faith in
the death and resurrection of Jesus to save us.
"If you confess with your
mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, will be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession to salvation. As Scripture says "Everyone who
trusts in him will never be ashamed" (Romans 10: 9-11)
